Surge in tourists credits to President Samia’s leadership & strategic initiatives.

Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ms. Angellah Kairuki, has attributed the recent surge in tourist numbers to ongoing efforts to promote Tanzania’s attractions. She highlighted President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership, noting that initiatives like the TanzaniaRoyal Tour and the “Amazing Tanzania” film in Beijing have significantly boosted international arrivals.

Speaking at the Karibu-Kilifair Tourism exhibition in Arusha, Ms. Kairuki announced that tourist arrivals increased from 922,692 in 2021 to 1,808,205 in 2023, a 95.9% rise. Domestic tourism also saw a substantial increase, from 788,933 to 1,985,707 tourists over the same period, marking a 151.7% surge.

Ms. Kairuki expressed appreciation for President Samia’s dedication to advancing the tourism sector, noting its contribution of over 17% to Tanzania’s GDP and 25% of total export earnings. She emphasized the collaborative efforts between the government and private sector, fostering a favorable business environment for domestic and foreign investors alike.

She commended the Karibu Kilifair management for their role in promoting Tanzanian tourism globally through the annual event, underscoring their commitment to supporting government initiatives.
