Strategic Economic Boost: Completion of Sumbawanga-Matai-Kasanga Road.

The inauguration of the Sumbawanga-Matai-Kasanga road in Rukwa region marks a significant step in Tanzania’s strategic economic growth and competitiveness in regional trade.

Under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, who officially opened the road on July 16, 2024, the Sixth Phase Government is focused on aligning critical infrastructure to attract both domestic and international investors.

This strategic initiative aims to capitalize on government investments, enhancing trade activities and ultimately increasing domestic revenue and foreign exchange through exports.

With an investment of 105 billion Tanzanian shillings, the Sumbawanga-Matai-Kasanga road will serve as a vital trade corridor for Zambia, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, ensuring efficient and timely cargo transportation to these neighboring countries.

President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s deliberate and strategic plan not only benefits Tanzania’s neighbors but also significantly boosts the local economy of Rukwa region.

The road empowers local farmers by providing them with efficient transport routes to market their grain products, ensuring timely delivery to various destinations.

The road’s connection to the Kasanga dry port further enhances Rukwa’s strategic economic position, facilitating rapid cargo handling and reducing transit times. This integration is poised to make Rukwa a key player in the regional trade network.

This infrastructure development is expected to reduce traffic congestion, promote regional connectivity, and attract investment by showcasing the ease of transportation and logistical efficiency.

The Sumbawanga-Matai-Kasanga road exemplifies Tanzania’s commitment to economic development and regional trade integration under the visionary leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
